De Buik van Mama

As my tummy grows I have been trying to find ways to explain it to Kees. We found this cute book at the library that shows the tummy growing. One of his friends at school has a 3 week old baby brother that Kees likes to look at sleeping in the stroller. He says, "Our baby coming." The main things he says about babies are that they are, "sleepy" and "have no teeth."

The book starts out with the mommy's tummy starting to grow...
Finally, you get to hold the baby after all that waiting! Kees is going to be a great big brother! Our next appointment and ultrasound is on Monday the 2nd!

Bike Ride!

This past week the weather has been beautiful! Steve and Kees went for a bike ride in the sunshine! Kees still thinks he needs to wear gloves, hat, and thick jacket. He doesn't realize yet that it is actually WARM outside! :)

Love my boys!

Dinant, Belgium

This past weekend Steve and I were able to have a night together in beautiful Dinant, Belgium. Many thanks to J.T and Niki for watching our little guy for us. He had a blast with them!  Dinant is a small town next to the Meuse River and has two main spectacular buildings: the Citadel which you can see in the picture on top of the cliff, and the Cathedral of Notre Dame. The Citadel was built during the Dutch occupation 1820. The weather was warm enough to take a walk along the river even in a light jacket! No more glove, hats, thermal underwear, and wool jacket needed...can you tell I'm happy Spring is here!

We enjoyed a delicious Chinese dinner together. Above my Won ton soup and Steve below trying the shark fin soup. I didn't take a close up picture of his soup. ;)

The house of Adolphe Sax is located in Dinant. He is the inventor of the saxophone!
The history of Dinant is remarkable.

Update

This past weekend Steve, I and Kees all got very sick with what we think was the 72 hour flu. It was the first time that Kees has ever had to throw-up so he kept saying, "I not like food coming out my mouth." Poor little guy. I kept drinking lots of water and fluids but decided to make a doctor appointment today to make sure that everything was okay with the baby after being so sick. The appointment went well and because I was able to keep fluids down it will be okay. I was able to get a ultrasound today at the appointment. This time baby was really active and the doctor even had a hard time finding him/her a few times. The heart rate was strong too. At one point the little arms and hands were waving around and the doctor told Kees the baby was waving at him. He got a big smile! She called the baby a "funny baby" because he/she was kicking off of one side and hitting the other side then doing it again. It was wonderful to see the baby moving all about and even waving to its big brother!

Ultrasound!

Today was the first time seeing our baby! Kees was very interested in what was going on with my tummy. Baby #2 was sleeping so the midwife was trying to get the baby to move for us. This was a big difference from Kees which at his first ultrasound would not stop moving. I like to think baby #2 is going to be mellow. The baby had a strong heart beat. We were even able to hear the heart! I'm now at 10 weeks and 4 days. The due date is what we thought at September 28th. The midwife was nervous about me wanting to have the baby in the hospital after she heard about Kees' birth. I think she is worried if she will make it on time. She is a really great midwife and I thought the clinic was also nice. It is much like the clinic I went to with Kees. My next appointment is on April 2nd.
There is our little one! So exciting and emotional to see my baby for the first time. I wasn't planning on getting to hear the heart this time so that was special to get to hear the heart.
Kees was enjoying the clinic as well. He did great today. I showed him pictures of ultrasounds in my book and what he may see today so that helped him know what was happening. He will touch my tummy and say,"Baby in mommy tummy!" Today was one of those days when it hits you just how blessed you are. So blessed to be a mommy of 2!
